Collecting Antique and Vintage Photographs
While most of us hang on to every family photograph we get and hand them down through generations, some do get lost. For whatever reason some vintage photographs find their way into circulation and become highly prized finds for collectors.
Collecting antique or vintage photographs has became a very popular hobby. It’s also one of the most misunderstood and probably one of the most curious hobbies there is. After all, why would anyone want to spend money on photographs of people they don’t even know?

Collecting Die Cast Cars
Some people are lucky enough to have a collection of classic cars. But, this is an unaffordable hobby for most people. Collecting die cast cars is a way for anyone to have a collection of their most loved, most desired cars or other vehicles.
The first die cast vehicles began appearing in 1934. Originally they were additions to model train layouts to add more realism to the tiny towns they created. They weren’t designed to replicate real cars in the beginning. The first to appear were Dinky models, called Meccano Modeled Miniatures, six vehicles were included in a train set.

Collecting Fiesta Dinnerware
Fiesta Is One of the Most Collected Dinnerware Sets In the World
While not the first dinnerware in solid colors to be sold in America, Fiesta is definitely one of the most popular. The highly collectable line was first introduced in 1936 and was the first to be offered as mix and match pieces.
The original line featured 37 pieces and even included accessories such as a bud vase, candle holders, a seven piece mixing bowl set and even an ash tray! Other pieces were quickly added while some were just as quickly discontinued through the years due to slow sales.

Action Figures Are One of The Most Collected Toys
Hasbro’s introduction of G.I. Joe in 1964 started an action figure craze that’s never relented to this day! Since the 70’s, action figures have became one of the most sought after collectable toys world wide. And, while G.I. Joe was the first action figure, many other companies have produced figures that are just as popular.
In 1966, Ideal company followed suit and even changed the direction of action figures with it’s release of Captain Action. Captain Action had accessory packs that allowed him to change into many of the popular comic and television characters of the time. With a quick costume change he could become Superman, Spiderman and Batman as well as other super heroes.

G.I. Joe: The Original Action Figure
Through the years Barbie has been the inspiration for a lot of young girls. But, believe it or not she was also the inspiration for G.I. Joe! Toy creator Stan Weston saw the big success that Barbie was enjoying and decided that a similar toy for young boys might have just as much success.
Hasbro agreed and the first prototypes were made in 1963. They were named Ace, a pilot, Rocky, a marine and Skip the sailor. The now famous name, G.I. Joe came when Hasbro director, Don Levine got the idea for the name from the 1945 movie, The Story of G.I. Joe.

McCoy Pottery - Most Popular American Pottery
McCoy pottery has been a long time favorite with collectors everywhere. It’s a sought after collectible that can be found for a few dollars at flea markets or could cost hundreds of dollars at an antique store. The pieces are both beautiful and usable items that are highly prized by collectors!
The pottery factory began as the Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Company in 1910. There earliest pieces weren’t marked and the now famous markings didn’t start appearing until 1929. And, through the years the markings have changed several times.

The Barbie Doll is probably the most famous of all dolls. Barbie has been America’s favorite glamour girl since 1959 and her fame and popularity has spread world wide.
Some people value their prized Barbie doll collection just as others value their collection of gold coins! And, in fact, some Barbie’s are worth as much or even more than some gold coins. One Barbie sold for $17,000 and one original 1959 doll sold for almost $26,000!
